Congratulations to the LIGO Collaboration

The International Pulsar Timing Array (IPTA) community congratulates Rainer Weiss, Barry Barrish, and Kip Thorne on being awarded the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physics. The award reflects their intellectual leadership in the conception and development of LIGO, which resulted in the direct detection of gravitational waves and opened up a new vibrant way to explore and study the Universe. The IPTA continues to work towards the detection of low-frequency gravitational waves and broadening the gravitational-wave spectrum.
